Orlando for the night!
Signs you know you are in Florida
1. Ryan has already been bitten by a mosquito.
2. "Beware of poisonous snakes" sign while walking Lilly.
3. Gator bashing from Ryan while passing Gainesville.
4. Storm clouds.
5. People who don't know how to drive on I-75S.
:) Love it!

Getting closer!
It's not even 10am and we've galready passed through Mississippi and are into Alabama. Lilly has been such a trooper and a total ham resting her head on our shoulders for long naps. Fingers crossed we don't hit much rain!

Exploring Beaumont
We had a great time checking out the city where I was born! Pictures include St. Elizabeth Hospital where my grandma worked and my brother and I were born, my pre-school St. Anne and even my cousins' house where my dad picked up my mom for their first date. There's also a pic of my parents' first apartment complex. Thanks Cindy for all the tips!
We had a fabulous lunch at the home of some family friends I hadn't seen in 25 years. So sweet.
Now on to New Orleans!

Beaumont (my birthplace)!
We've made it to Beaumont after a long day that included stops in San Antonio, Austin and Houston. We saw some pretty farms and homes along the drive on the 290. There was some vert quaint spots mixed in and we saw our share of interesting folks. Lilly was such a good sport as this was our longest day of driving yet.
Tomorrow morning we explore spots from my toddler years including the hospital where I was born, my pre-school and the house where my dad picked up my mom for their first date. We'll also have lunch with some family friends who I haven't seen since I was four years old! Then, it's off to New Orleans!

San Antonio!
Dear Texas
Dear Texas,
You are hot (and I don't mean good-looking)! You are also endless. I do like your random cute country shops though.
Love,
Christina

The open road again!
We had our first late start today, but are finally hitting the road towards Austin. Drive time should be about five hours.
Lilly has assumed her favorite spot in the window. I'm not quite sure how she can take the 85 mph winds in her face. Arizona and Texas are full of dust everywhere so she is getting a bath tonight!

We're in Fort Stockton for the night!
This place looks straight out of Friday Night Lights (or Texas Chainsaw Massacre). I'm hoping for the former. Triple A recommends this steakhouse though and it's definitely hopping for a Tuesday night. They even have karaoke, but we politely declined. Austin tomorrow!

Almost at Fort Stockton
We have about an hour and a half drive left to reach Fort Stockton, TX where we'll spend the night. It was neat to see the sign a bit ago that said we were about to enter the Central Time zone. I literally watched the time on my phone jump forward an hour. We're so excited to drive to Austin tomorrow! Lilly has been sleeping most of the drive.

Border Patrol Checkpoint!
Hitting the road shortly!
We are up and getting ready to leave Tombstone. Do we stop in Fort Stockton or make the 14 hour drive to Austin? I don't think Lilly will be able to take a drive that long. Decisions, decisions.
